Hendrikje Grunow has a background in Anthropology and Interdisciplinary Latin American Studies. In her ongoing Ph.D. project titled "Affected by Conflict. Affective Traces of the Past in Everyday Life among Bogota’s Upper Middle Class", she examines experiences and interpretations of violent conflict in Colombia. More specifically, she analyzes ways in which members of the upper middle class are affected by the country’s ongoing conflict and how this serves them as both emotional and habitual mechanism of distinction.
